Mission Directors Group

The Education Committee of CLRI(NSW) organised a seminar day this year for the member of the school staff who has prime responsibility for promoting the charism and mission of the school.

We hosted an inaugural meeting on Friday May 9 at the Good Samaritan Centre, Glebe of those engaged in promoting mission in the school, with a view to providing some input, support and encouragement to the staff member/s and if there was interest, beginning a network of those involved.

By Director of Mission we refer to the person who

Our aim was to get staff involved in charism and mission development together to share “how do you do it?”

Thirty five congregational schools in NSW sent their mission director to this seminar day -a great beginning. Julie Taylor, Facilitator of Adult Spiritual Formation, Chevalier Institute, led the day and began with a session on Exploring the nature of formation for mission in general and formation in relation to a charism. A later session, led by Alison McKenzie from Chevalier College, Bowral and Sr Carmel McDonough rsm of Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College, North Sydney, was Exploring the role of leader of mission. The final session of the day was Sharing & Networking.

An outcome of the day was the decision to create a Google Group for Mission Directors in congregational schools in NSW.

Another outcome of the day was the decision to make available the contact details for Mission Directors on this website page.

Hopefully, both these initiatives will encourage Mission Directors to be in contact with each other.
