Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee acts on behalf of the members of CLRI(NSW) DOING social justice. At the 2000 AGM, the membership passed to the Social Justice Committee responsibility for action, including advocacy, in the name of CLRI(NSW). The committee meets eleven times per year at CRA offices, Annandale to receive reports from the four sub-groups that do the work of social justice between meetings.

Available now is the wrap-up edition of STATE YOUR CASE  prepared by the Social Justice Committee of CLRI(NSW) as part of our preparation for the State Elections on March 26.   This wrap-up summarises our previous editions on housing, prisons and climate change and asks readers to check Has your preferred party committed to doing the following?  

 

Since our October meeting, members of the CLRI(NSW) Social Justice Committee have been working with our committee research officer, Frances Egan, to produce STATE YOUR CASE – a resource for you, your congregational members and your colleagues which raises issues for the upcoming State Election on March 26

 

Earth Hour 2011 CONTINUES!

I know that the Social Justice Committee of CLRI(NSW) is presenting a lot of material to you for distribution to your congregational members -State Your Case in the lead-up to the State Elections; the Lenten Carbon Fast Calendar in preparation for Lent beginning next Wednesday and now, a reminder about preparing for and celebrating Earth Hour on March 26 -the same day as the State Election.
