CLRI(NSW) Relationships
The Executive Committee of CLRI(NSW) has two collaborative relationships with the NSW Bishops’ Conference, through:
1.THE MIXED COMMISSION
A Meeting of two members of the NSW Bishops’ Conference and the Executive Committee occurs twice a year and deals with such matters as group funding of congregational schools, Professional Standards, leadership roles in the church, the promotion of the participation of women in the church.
2. THE JOINT STIPENDS COMMITTEE
This committee of representatives of the Executive Committee and the NSW Bishops’ Conference usually meets once per year to decide the basis for and the annual increase in the stipend paid to religious working in various church sectors across NSW.
The Education Committee of CLRI(NSW) represents the Executive Committee and congregational leaders in meetings with:
1. THE CATHOLIC EDUCATION COMMISSION
The CEC briefs the CLRI(NSW) representatives four times per annum on the issues of current importance in Catholic education, particularly as the issues relate to congregational schools.
2. SYDNEY DIOCESAN DIRECTOR
The Diocesan Director of Sydney meets twice per year with the Education Committee and leaders with congregational schools to discuss the matters of significance for congregational leaders, principals and schools.
In years past, CLRI(NSW) has been a sponsor of KAIROS, an initial formation program. Currently, CLRI(NSW) has a role in raising funds each year for the Kairos program which aims to meet the needs of novices as they begin to live religious life by providing a process that:
- Helps develop a strong sense of community
- Gives ample time for reflection on experience
- Tries to develop a strong sense of spirituality
- Includes the theological, psychological, pastoral and creative aspects
- Clarifies what it means to live the consecrated life
CLRI(NSW) has a cooperative and collaborative relationship with CRA – (Catholic Religious Australia), the national body for congregational leaders situated at Annandale. This relationship is evidenced through:
- Sharing of premises and other resources
- Collaborative work on particular projects, especially related to social justice
- Participation in each other’s conferences/ workshops/ seminars. Top of Page
